Junior Volunteer
You're Learning the Foundations
As a Junior Volunteer, you'll learn the essential skills of community television production:
- Operating cameras and recording quality video
- Capturing clear, professional audio
- Ingesting footage to our editing systems
- Understanding the basics of production workflow
What to Expect:
- Hands-on training and mentorship from experienced volunteers
- Shadowing productions to see how it all comes together
- Support every step of the way as you build confidence
Recognition: Production credit as Junior Production Assistant
Mid-Level Volunteer
You're Becoming a Storyteller
You've mastered the technical basics—now it's time to develop your creative skills:
- Everything a Junior Volunteer does, plus...
- Post-production and editing skills
- Filming complete events from start to finish
- Crafting compelling stories that engage our community
What to Expect:
- Continued mentorship with focus on editing and storytelling
- Increasing independence on shoots
- Opportunities to take creative ownership of projects
Recognition: Production credit as Production Associate
Senior Volunteer
You're a Trusted Producer
You've proven you can produce quality content independently:
- Milestone: Successfully produce one complete library event (or similar community event) from recording through final edit—entirely on your own
- Demonstrate consistent quality and reliability
- Work without supervision while maintaining Mendham TV standards
What to Expect:
- Full autonomy on production projects
- Mentorship opportunities—help train Junior and Mid-level volunteers
- First consideration for paid opportunities
Recognition: Production credit as Producer
The Path to Paid:
Once you complete 5 full productions as a Senior Volunteer, you're eligible to transition to our Paid Producer program.
Paid Producer
You're a Professional Partner
Welcome to the team! You've earned the opportunity to be compensated for your expertise:
- Rate: $200 per completed event (recorded and edited to final delivery)
- Professional-level production quality expected
- Reliable, independent work on community events and programming
What to Expect:
- Most opportunities will be paid assignments
- Occasional volunteer opportunities for special projects (your choice)
- Continued growth as a key part of the Mendham TV production team
